A LIFE WELL SPENT
By: Susie Moore on Huffingtonpost.com "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication," said Leonardo Da Vinci.
Simplifying the complex is perhaps one of the most underrated virtues of our time. We pride ourselves on excess -- the newest gadgets, a full social calendar and quantity over quality with regards to relationships, experiences and possessions. We even find a weird sense of righteousness in workaholism. As a life coach in New York City, I meet a lot of high-achieving individuals and they often do not consider a simple life a successful life, until we dig a little deeper. Then it can be baffling as to why they did not consider simplicity a must in the first place. Happiness is the goal of all other goals and the secret to happiness is simply inner peace. Overindulgence in anything disrupts this. When we tread the peaceful path, simplicity lines the walk. The truth is, simplicity is freeing. It is natural. When we over extend ourselves and fill our lives with clutter, both materially and emotionally, we lose touch with the essence of ourselves and with what matters. Our resources -- time, money, even energy, are limited. Spreading them too thin does not serve anyone. Least of all you. Here are five easy tips to simplify your life: 1. Seek quality, not quantity with friendships. 2. Stop being so ... Read More Here

So I've jumped out the apple bandwagon (IPhone 4 - 16GB) and on to HTC's Android smartphones (HTC ONE S). Its been 6 days and here's what I miss of the old and adore of the new...
I miss... 1. Touching the top panel of any scroll down page takes you directly to the top. 2. Clicking the Home Button to turn the screen on. 3. Double Clicking the Home Button while screen locked to get the music player on. 4. The seamless text selection, editing and clipboard management. 5. The Search Bar (the left most part of your screen) I Loove... 1. Widgets, need i say more? 2. Never to switch keyboard layout just to get to some punctuations. 3. Unlocked Grid Icons. (Yeah...) 4. Network Signal issues...gone baby. :D 5. HTC Sense UI (some may not like the Sense) 6. The helicopter view 7. Animated wallpapers 8. Face Unlock (pretty cool stuff here, although still has some kinks on it) 9. The Mobile Data (you can track your data usage, see what app uses the most, etc) 10. THE CAMERA...hehehe - very fast, built in customization like instagram effects, control WB-ISO, camera modes. I think i'm going to stop here for now...will look for more "Miss n' Love"...haha Zeee Yah. Thanks for dropping by. Of the hundreds affected by typhoon Sendong, my uncle and cousins, with their kids, was one of them. We are indeed grateful that all of them are safe. Yesterday, me and my sister talked to my nephews and asked them to share their experience through drawing. I've read that (click here) somehow that this helps kids express their feelings. At first, I thought, they would just draw trees or just doodle away. But then what they draw surprised me, they vividly drew what they saw that night. See their drawings below.
Shot on 16.May.10 at Cagayan de Oro Philippines. I used a tripod and nikkor 55-200mm lens.
f stop: f/11 Exp : 1.6s it seems i'm on a roll here...:) ok, i have been trying out this new technique (at least new to me) of product photography using a light tent/box. But being me, such a cheapo sometimes, i created a DIY (do it yourself) setup of light tent. Here are sample shots that i got and continue at the bottom to see how I did it...comments highly appreciated.enjoy. And this is how i did it. funny right? well worked for me...a little post processing and i'm good to go. for those of you wanting to try the setup here's the list of items that i used. 1. White Folder - 1pc 2. A4 size Bond Paper - 2pcs (at least) 3. LED Light source - 1pc (mine was a 48-LED Emergency Lamp by Omni selling for about 700-900php) Just set them up like how you see them in the photo and you're good to go. :) enjoy. Note: anybody who sells their product online, i could do a photoshoot of your products. just contact me. I'll do it for free, at first, hehehe, if you like what I do then lets talk again. :) This photo was taken while I was parking my car in a mall. The car park has a 5-storey lot. It was not a busy day so the lot was just filled up to the 2nd floor. I decided to go to the top floor a take shots.
Photos here was shot during a cloudy day. I used my trusty D60 and my 55-200mm lens. When I got on top, I just went trigger happy. Its sad to note that even though I got 50+ shots only a few of them are good. hehehe. Ohh yeah I almost forgot, i did not do any major editing on these photos, just cropping. :) Guess I need more practice right? what do you think?... Leave comments or suggestions.. okay? |
